Dear All,


My most sincere apologies that is nearly 7 months since I last put a Latest News update. Although no progress has been made with regard 47701's current situation, other aspects have started falling into place which will greatly benefit the loco's wellbeing.

First news update of 2012 and it is sadly not a good one. After many months of being denied rightful access to the locomotive, and enduring threats of violence made against the myself (owner's representative and son) and vandalism against the loco itself, locomotive owner Tracy Lear has taken the decision to terminate the contract with the railway, and seek a new base for the locomotive. 47701 was officially fired up at 10:35am on Friday 25th November 2011 by owner Tracy Lear at Meldon Quarry on the Dartmoor Railway. On start up the exhaust, which had been expected to be quite overwhelming owing to the length of time that the loco hadn't been started and run, actually only ran black for about 20 seconds then changed to white and was running clear within 2 mins. It has been confirmed that 47701 has had the mechanical work to the powerunit completed and pending a successful startup off newly aquired battery cells, replacing the old ones which were passed their best, she will be entering Dartmoor Railway's service roster as of this weekend.
